We often want to see God’s power right now. We want our marriages healed today, our bank accounts restored this very moment, and our careers to take off as soon as possible. But God calls us to start walking first and realize his power along the way.
Ten lepers were crying out to Jesus and begging him for healing. He could have instantaneously given them what they wanted, but, instead, he directed them to the priests and promised healing along the way. They may have wanted proof right then to avoid a useless trip, but Jesus promised healing en route. It took faith and trust from those lepers, but they decided to believe in His power. They chose courage. And they walked away.
Like the lepers, where are you asking God to show his power in your life? Whether you’re begging for health, freedom, or joy, Jesus holds all the power to give you what you need. But you have to do what you can do, and put one foot in front of the other. Brush off the urge to believe in Him only after the miracle, and choose courage to trust in Him before the miracle. When you do, you’re sure to experience power along the way.
If you’re new in your relationship with Christ, you may wonder what it looks like to trust Jesus and follow him. Teaching Pastor Jason Strand shares a few brief messages on how to start growing today.
As Jesus continued on toward Jerusalem, he reached the border between Galilee and Samaria. 12 As he entered a village there, ten lepers stood at a distance, 13 crying out, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”
14 He looked at them and said, “Go show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed of their leprosy.
